The Doktorenhof Vinegar Apartment

Welcome to Venningen, home of Doktorenhof and our Fine Wine Vinegars.
In one of the village’s most charming old farm- and vintner houses we have created a beautiful vinegar apartment for our guests.

The charming half-timbered house was built in 1704, with old oak from the local forests and clay mortar. It has a pretty courtyard separating the house from the neighboring house, a typical and traditional courtyard style found in the Pfalz, where villages are built densly, yet very cozy.

We carefully renovated this gem with our love for details, keeping most of its original fixtures. The result is a wonderful combination of old, traditional craftsmanship and modern living culture, easily meeting the expectations of today’s travelers. Bring your loved ones and spend a few days in our rural idyllic vinegar house and enjoy the tranquility of the Pfalz.

Make sure to make reservations well in advance of your stay.

Palatinate from its most beautiful side

The Palatinate wine-growing region has many distinctive elements: A long tradition extending back to the Romans, a unique cohesion (the
wine-growing zone to the east of the Haardt is 85 kilometers long and
just a few kilometers in width), an outstanding market importance (every third bottle of wine bought in Germany originates from the Palatinate region), a particularly mild climate (in some years the amount of sunshine exceeds more than 2000 hours) as well as a remarkable size:
With almost 23,400 hectares, the Palatinate wine-growing region is the
second largest wine-growing region in Germany and has a forth of the
German wine-growing acreage.

The Southern Wine Route extends from Maikammer in the middle of the German wine route to Schweigen on the French border, which is by far the largest wine-growing region in Germany. There are more than 12,000 hectares of vineyards with 60 million vines here. From a purely statistical point of view, there are more than 600 vines for each
inhabitant of the area.
